Star's death is wake up-call for drug abuse

Star's death is wake up-call for drug abuse

(Crime, Prescription Drugs) Permanent link

Attorney General McKenna has a guest column about prescription drug abuse in this week's Snoqualmie Valley Record:

In December, actress Britney Murphy was found dead in her Los Angeles home. Authorities reported that the 32 year-old died of “natural causes.”

But 32-year-olds don’t usually die of natural causes. An autopsy now reveals that Murphy experienced “multiple drug intoxication” from prescription drugs. This month, her death was reclassified as accidental.

Unfortunately, Murphy’s prescription drug-related death was far from an isolated incident.

Read the rest on AG McKenna will speak at the Youth Prescription Drug Abuse Community Education Forum, 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 24, at Mount Si High School. The forum’s organizers ask adults to check, lock and dispose of prescription drugs. For more information, call (425) 831-3404 or email

Dignified, Attorney General.

First I'd like to point out that I'm not even a US citizen.
I know that fighting against all kind of drug abuse is very noble and important task in all over the world.

However, I'm appalled in what kind of light your statement is portraying this deceased brilliant young woman. If you HAVE TO make an example out of someone, courtesy requires that you get the facts straight first. Starting with her maiden NAME, which is Brittany Anne Murphy, and following the fact that her primary cause of death was pneumonia. I know this sounds like I'm splitting the hair mighty fine, but as a politician who has studied law, you have to acknowledge that the details are everything.

I'm aware that this is somewhat like fighting against the windmills, but I will gladly even fall on to my own sword, if that is required, while defending the honor she has left.

Your sincerely, Ismo Juusela
