Public Counsel Inquiries
Please Note: The Public Counsel Section of the Washington State Attorney General's Office represents the general public interest in utility proceedings before the Washington Utility and Transportation Commission (WUTC). Only telephone, electric and natural gas utilities owned by investors or stockholders are regulated by the state and therefore involve Public Counsel; the office does not have authority to address issues for customers of publicly owned utilities (e.g. PUDs, co-ops, and municipals such as Seattle City Light).
In addition, Public Counsel is not staffed to respond to individual complaints or inquiries that are specific in nature (e.g. a specific service or billing complaint).
