Volunteers

Did you know that the Attorney General's Consumer Resource Centers handle approximately 20,000 citizen complaints and more than 150,000 consumer calls every year?  The office is only able to handle that extraordinary volume with the help of our team of volunteers and work-study students.

We need your help!  We are always looking for volunteers to assist the public with inquiries and complaints about unfair and deceptive business practices. Job responsibilities will include providing consumer information and referrals to the public; providing informal mediation between consumers and businesses; supporting investigations; and educating consumers about how to avoid becoming victims of fraud.

We ask for a commitment of 10-12 hours a week for a six months. Our consumer resource centers are located in Bellingham, Seattle, Tacoma and Vancouver. There are openings in all offices.  Past volunteers have enjoyed their time with our office and report that they've become better consumers while helping others as part of their work.

"We are looking for people who are interested consumer issues with a strong desire to help others and are able to deal with people in a professional and understanding manner," said Kathleen Baker, Director of the Consumer Resource Centers.

To find out more about volunteering with the AG’s office, please call 1-800-551-4636 and ask to be transferred to the Director, Kathleen Baker.
