The Attorney General’s Office values volunteers and the work that they do to assist the citizens of Washington. By becoming a volunteer with the Attorney General’s Office you will have an opportunity to contribute your talents by assisting the public, while gaining valuable experience in an assortment of different locations and divisions.
The Attorney General’s Office has a variety of volunteer opportunities available. Whether you are looking to obtain on-the-job experience or school credit, we can help you find an opportunity to fit your needs. Examples of past volunteer opportunities include:
Assistance with closing and archiving case files with a variety of divisions
Data entry for the Torts Division
Auditing of DSHS records for the Social and Health Services Division
Data entry updating a backlog of case information for the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit
Job shadowing Paralegals and Legal Assistants
Preparation of correspondence for the Administration Division
Miscellaneous projects with the Information Services Division
Scanning case related information for archiving with a variety of divisions
Filing and other projects for the Financial Services Division
Assistance with delivering of documents during the Legislative session for the Administration Division
Writing projects with the Public Affairs Unit

Consumer Resource Center Volunteer Information

Did you know that with the help of our team of volunteers the Attorney General's Consumer Resource Centers handles approximately 20,000 citizen complaints and more than 60,000 consumer calls every year?
We need your help! We are always looking for volunteers to assist the public with inquiries and complaints about unfair and deceptive business practices. Job responsibilities will include providing consumer information and referrals to the public; providing informal mediation between consumers and business; and educating consumers about how to avoid becoming victims of fraud.
The mission of the Consumer Protection Division is to secure for the the people of Washington State a marketplace free from deceit and unfairness through strong enforcement, effective education and creative problem solving.
Expectations and Desired Qualifications:
A minimum Commitment of 10-12 hours a week, generally with a minimum commitment for 6 months
Basic computer experience; this includes data entry and performing internet searches
Enthusiasm and willingness to learn
ability to answer complex calls in a professional and understanding manner
Ability to use various office equipment; fax machines, copiers, scanners, computers and telephonesAbility to work in a fast paced learning environment
