The Attorney General’s Office filed a petition in Lewis County Superior Court seeking to civilly commit a violent sex offender and prevent his release into the community.
Attorney General Bob Ferguson’s Sexually Violent Predator Unit successfully blocked the release of a convicted sex offender after a Snohomish County jury decided he should not be conditionally released into the community.

In the interest of public safety, prosecutors from Attorney General Bob Ferguson’s Sexually Violent Predator (SVP) Unit have been fighting since 2013 to prevent Coley’s release into the community.
