FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

OLYMPIA -- Attorney General Rob McKenna announced today he has appointed Susan Harris as the Executive Director of the Executive Ethics Board.

“Susan will be a wonderful executive director,” said McKenna. “She comes to the board with 28 years of exemplary experience applying and enforcing public disclosure law at the Public Disclosure Commission.”

The Executive Ethics Board and its staff investigate ethic complaints of executive state officials and agencies. The board’s authority also extends to interpreting and enforcing the ethics law, imposing sanctions for violations of the ethics law, developing educational materials, providing ethics training, and issuing formal advisory opinions.

“Throughout her career, Susan has demonstrated she is both tough and fair when it comes to enforcing the law,” said McKenna. “I have no doubt she will rely on that same combination of qualities to be successful in this new role.”

Harris started with the PDC as a data entry operator, and rose steadily through the ranks to become auditor, senior political finance examiner, assistant director for compliance and enforcement, and for the last five years assistant director of the agency.

McKenna also acknowledged and thanked Kent Nakamura for serving as active interim executive director over the last five months.
