Thieves are wielding glue guns to rob ATM users, the San Francisco Examiner reports. Police there are warning residents about a rise in reports of thieves disabling ATM keys by gluing down the "enter," "cancel" and "clear" buttons. When a frustrated customer goes inside the bank for help -- after already entering a PIN number -- the thieves pop out of hiding and withdraw money.

No word yet whether this is happening in our state. But if you do end up in this "sticky" situation, use the ATM's touchscreen to finish or cancel your transaction. Never leave your card in the machine unattended. Call the bank on your cell phone, or ask someone else to go inside and fetch help.
