Washington Attorney General Rob McKenna will join housing counselors and loan servicers at a free workshop Saturday geared at helping homeowners find solutions to their mortgage problems. McKenna will kick off the event by discussing the recent settlement affecting Countrywide loan recipients, as well as efforts to protect homeowners from foreclosure rescue scams.
The event is sponsored by the Urban League of Metropolitan Seattle, Solid Ground and the Seattle-King County Asset-Building Collaborative. Participants will be able to meet with HUD-certified mortgage counselors to learn about available options to help them remain in their homes and avoid foreclosure. Loan servicers from Countywide and Bank of America will be available to initiate the loan work-out process for their customers; bring your loan documents.
