Our Consumer Protection High-Tech Unit filed a lawsuit today accusing a former Bremerton couple who sold magazine subscriptions of violating consumer protection laws. According to the state’s complaint, thousands of consumers paid Cheapest-Magz anywhere from $5 to several hundred dollars for subscriptions but never received their magazines. Owners Eireen Ejem-Dagohoy and her husband, Wilmyr Dagohoy, sold the subscriptions on eBay. Consumers who purchased subscriptions from CheapestMagz but did not receive their magazines can file a complaint with our office.

When shopping online auction sites, follow these tips:
1. Use a credit card.
2. Use a third-party payment service such as PayPal. Never wire money.
3. Ask about delivery, return policies and warranties before you pay.
4. Study consumer feedback sections to learn about other buyers' experiences.
5. Be especially cautious when dealing with sellers in other countries.

Several Web sites allow you to check out sellers: AuctionBlacklist posts complaints from auction buyers about fraudulent sellers and includes a searchable database.Traderlist maintains a database of both "good" and "bad" collectibles traders.
