Pursuant to ESSB 5950 (125) (37), the Domestic Extremism and Mass Violence Task Force will provide recommendations to the legislature to establish a comprehensive public health and community-based framework to combat extremism and mass violence. The Task Force must submit a preliminary report to the governor and the legislature by June 1, 2025. The Task Force’s final report and recommendations are due to the governor and Legislature by December 1, 2026.

Public Comment Information and Registration
The Domestic Extremism and Mass Violence Task Force welcomes written public comment on issues under consideration by the Task Force. Public comment is an opportunity for members of the public to share their thoughts on items that appear on meeting agendas. Written public comment can be provided through the portal linked below. The portal will open after the Task Force meeting agenda has been posted to the Task Force website and will remain open for one week after the meeting.
Written comments received by 5pm the evening before a Task Force meeting will be distributed to Task Force members before the meeting begins. The remaining written comments received through the portal will be distributed to Task Force members when the portal closes. Public Attendance at Task Force Meetings
The Open Public Meetings Act (OPMA) provides that members of the public may attend the meetings of the Domestic Extremism and Mass Violence Task Force. (RCW 42.30.040). The purpose of the OPMA is so that the public can be informed and see the actions of the Task Force.
If those in attendance are disruptive and preclude the Task Force from being able to continue its meeting, those creating the disruption may be asked to leave the meeting. If the meeting is interrupted and the orderly conduct of the meeting cannot continue, the Task Force members may order the meeting room cleared and continue in session or may adjourn the meeting and reconvene at another location selected by a majority vote of the members. (RCW 42.30.050).
