Holding lawbreakers accountable is what my job is all about. I have worked hard to make sure my office stops bad actors in their tracks and takes steps to deter future ones.
If the Trump Administration continues to take illegal actions, I will continue to use my office to remind them that our nation’s laws apply to everyone. The rule of law does not stop at the White House gates.

When I became Attorney General, I committed the Attorney General’s Office to doing more to protect Washington’s environment and workers.
I firmly believe that we are a nation of laws. That means that everyone is accountable to the Constitution, no matter their status, including the President of the United States.
The opportunity to request legislation that improves the laws of our state constitutes a key responsibility of my role as Attorney General.
On Monday, I filed a lawsuit against the President of the United States. I don’t take a decision like that lightly. I firmly believe that no one is above the law, however, and I have a duty to protect all Washingtonians from unlawful actions that violate the Constitution.
From a nationally record-setting judgment against a lobbying group hiding the identities of its corporate donors from Washington voters, to exposing a major corporation’s knowledge of the dangers of its products, my office remains hard at work protecting your right to know.
Businesses and individuals that don’t play by the rules in Washington state will pay for breaking the law.
