OLYMPIA — Today, Washington state Attorney General Bob Ferguson issued the following statement regarding the U.S. Supreme Court's ruling in Obergefell v. Hodges. The court held same-sex marriage is legal nationwide. Attorney General Ferguson joined 15 other states in filing a "friend of the court" brief in the case, supporting marriage equality for same-sex couples.
OLYMPIA — Today, Attorney General Bob Ferguson joined a coalition of states in filing an amicus, or “friend of the court,” brief with the U.S. Supreme Court arguing that the Constitution requires marriage equality nationwide.
OLYMPIA — In light of yesterday’s Benton County Superior Court ruling that a Richland florist violated Washington’s Consumer Protection Act by refusing to serve a same-sex couple seeking to buy wedding flowers in 2013, Washington Attorney General Bob Ferguson today released the following statement:

SEATTLE — In light of the United States Supreme Court’s announcement today that it will review marriage-equality cases from four states, Washington State Attorney General Bob Ferguson issued the following statement:
OLYMPIA — Benton County Superior Court Judge Alex Ekstrom today agreed with the Attorney General’s Office that the Attorney General has the authority to bring a consumer protection lawsuit against a Richland flower shop and its owner. In addition, Judge Ekstrom ruled that the shop owner can be held personally liable for violating the Consumer Protection Act.
OLYMPIA — Benton County Superior Court Judge Alex Ekstrom heard arguments today on two more summary judgment motions filed in the Attorney General’s Office’s consumer protection case against Arlene’s Flowers, a Richland florist, and its owner and operator, Barronelle Stutzman.

SPOKANE — After being contacted by the Washington State Attorney General’s Office (AGO), Shriners Hospitals for Children agreed that it will extend health benefits to same-sex spouses of its employees nationwide in states recognizing marriage equality. This new health care policy is effective Jan. 1, 2015.
