AG Ferguson: Kitsap County towing company to repay former Navy sailor for selling his car at auction
PORT ORCHARD — Attorney General Bob Ferguson announced today a court order will require a Kitsap County towing company to pay a former Navy sailor for illegally selling his car at auction. The order also requires it to implement specific policies so it will not harm service members in the future.

Attorney General Bob Ferguson submitted testimony asserting that CenturyLink is responsible for many of the technological failures that caused the widespread 911 outage in December 2018. Ferguson’s testimony also asserts that CenturyLink failed to notify its call centers of the outage as required by law. The testimony includes statements from four Washingtonians impacted by the outage, including one man who still experiences lasting health problems from the delay in emergency medical treatment.

OLYMPIA — Today the Sexual Assault Forensic Examination (SAFE) Advisory Group convened by Attorney General Bob Ferguson’s office released a report recommending reforms that will improve the state’s response to sexual assault. The recommendations include: Addressing the shortage of sexual assault trauma nurses to ensure sufficient and appropriate care for survivors; Increasing victim-centered, trauma-informed training for prosecutors to improve interactions with survivors of sexual assault who are asked to testify; and Establishing consistent statewide process for collecting DNA from offenders who will not serve a term of confinement. Earlier this year the Attorney General’s Office identified hundreds of registered sex offenders from whom a DNA sample was never collected.

OLYMPIA — Washington State Solicitor General Noah Purcell will be in federal court in New York City today, fighting the flawed Purdue Pharma bankruptcy plan that grants the company’s owners, the Sackler family, a lifetime shield from civil lawsuits. Attorney General Bob Ferguson announced the appeal in September, asserting that the plan is inadequate, and does not provide sufficient accountability.
