Other LanguagesOLYMPIA - Attorney General Rob McKenna today announced the return of former Senior Counsel Jon Ferguson as the chief of the new complex litigation division in the Attorney General’s Office.
As chief, Ferguson will be responsible for managing the emerging complex litigation division that will likely expand over the next year.
“Jon’s extensive experience with complex litigation, large-document cases, significant mediation and many trials as lead attorney will allow him to develop and implement complex solutions through a highly interactive process,” McKenna said. “He is looking forward to returning to the best public law firm in the country and we could not be happier to welcome him back to the Attorney General’s Office.”
Ferguson graduated from the University of Washington with a B.A. in Far Eastern Studies. He graduated from the University of Washington School of Law in 1974.
After several years in the private sector, Ferguson began his career at the Attorney General’s office in 1977in the Consumer Protection Division in Tacoma. He became Senior Counsel and Litigation Team Leader in the Torts Division, and in 1993, he took the position of Chief of the Antitrust Section. He went on sabbatical in 1994 to serve as the World Bank Chief Legal Advisor for De-monopolization and Privatization in Minsk and Belarus.
In his last assignment with the AGO, Jon was lead counsel for Washington in the historic Tobacco Litigation. In 1999, Ferguson left the Attorney General’s office to become the managing attorney for Chandler Franklin & O’Bryan of Bainbridge Island. Most recently, Ferguson owned the Jon Ferguson Law Group, PLLC. The firm focused on complex litigation including antitrust and class actions, tobacco litigation and personal injury.
Ferguson was recognized as a “Super Lawyer” by Washington Law & Politics for four consecutive years beginning in 2003, and has been AV-rated by Martindale-Hubbell for more than 25 years.
