Attorney General Rob McKenna will visit Spokane Friday, Dec. 2, to present a $15,000 grant to Providence Cancer Center and to promote a public service program to discourage under-aged drinking.

  • Presentation of Taxol Settlement Award to Providence Cancer Center.

WHAT: McKenna will present Providence Cancer Center with a check for $15,054 to benefit cancer patients. The grant is a portion of a multi-state settlement with drug maker Bristol-Myers Squibb, which developed and marketed the late-stage cancer drug Taxol.

  • Attorney General Rob McKenna joins The Century Council and Washington State Liquor Control Board in fight against underage drinking

WHAT: The Century Council, a national not-for-profit organization, funded by distillers dedicated to fighting drunk driving and underage drinking, has launched a campaign designed to encourage parents to talk with their teens about the dangers of underage drinking.

The goal of the initiative is to raise awareness among parents about how their teens get the alcohol they drink and emphasize the importance of talking to their teens about the dangers of underage drinking. The key component to the campaign is a 30-second TV PSA (available in English and Spanish), buttons and information cards for parents to be distributed at the point of purchase.
