OLYMPIA –The U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Washington today granted summary judgment in the state’s favor on one claim in a lawsuit filed by the state in March 2003 to stop the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) from shipping transuranic mixed waste to Hanford from other DOE sites around the country.
OLYMPIA – Attorney General Rob McKenna and the state Department of Financial Institutions (DFI) today announced a $325 million nationwide settlement with Ameriquest Mortgage Company. The agreement resolves allegations of widespread fraud by the company as part of a high-pressure scheme to sell mortgages that trapped consumers into debt and put them at risk of losing their homes.

Members of the “Operation: Allied Against Meth” task force and others law enforcement officials have been invited to join him both at the hearing and at a media availability shortly before the hearing begins.

Attorney General Rob McKenna today announced an agreement with Understanding Seniors Financial and its owners. The agreement ends an investigation into whether the company unlawfully provided legal advice to senior citizens and made misleading statements in order to sell estate planning products.
