TACOMA — Today, Chief Judge David Estudillo of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington dismissed Maverick Gaming’s lawsuit challenging the state law that allows sports betting, but limits bets to those placed at casinos owned by tribal nations.

OLYMPIA — Attorney General Bob Ferguson today announced that his office recovered another $9.3 million stolen as part of a massive fraud perpetrated against states across the country. The money had been deposited by fraudsters into Bank of America accounts, and last week a King County Superior Court judge ordered Bank of America to return the stolen funds to Washington state.

OLYMPIA — Attorney General Bob Ferguson announced that he is partnering with Rep. David Hackney, D-Tukwila, on legislation to create an unwaivable warranty for used car purchases. Current Washington law affords consumers few consumer protections for used cars that break down shortly after purchase — often called “lemons” — compared to new car purchases. This disparity disproportionately impacts communities of color and working Washington families.

OLYMPIA — A Spokane County Superior Court judge today sentenced former Spokane County worker Rhonda Sue Ackerman to serve prison time and repay  $1,378,541 in stolen public funds, following Attorney General Bob Ferguson’s prosecution of the case. Ackerman pleaded guilty to one count of first-degree theft in October.

Attorney General Bob Ferguson today filed a federal lawsuit against Allure Esthetic, a major plastic surgery provider in Seattle, and its owner, Dr. Javad Sajan, for falsely and illegally inflating its ratings on online rating platforms such as Yelp and Google. The company intimidated patients into removing negative reviews, and ordered its employees to post fake positive reviews.
