AG Ferguson: Providence’s collection agencies broke the law while collecting medical debts
SEATTLE — Attorney General Bob Ferguson announced that he expanded his lawsuit against 14 Providence-affiliated hospitals, including five Swedish hospitals, by adding two collection agencies that worked for the hospitals. The Attorney General’s underlying consumer protection lawsuit stems from Providence’s charity care and collections practices impacting tens of thousands of patients and hundreds of millions of dollars in medical debt.

Bankruptcy judge approves resolution requiring Tim Eyman to pay down his debts
OLYMPIA — A federal bankruptcy judge has approved a resolution that requires Tim Eyman to give up his share of his house to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars toward what he owes on his campaign finance judgment and other creditors. Parties who agreed to the resolution include Tim Eyman, Karen Williams (formerly Karen Eyman), the trustee, Tim Eyman’s attorneys, and the State of Washington.

AG Ferguson: Court rules Navy failed to consider the damaging impacts of its Growler jet program
A federal judge ruled that the U.S. Navy’s environmental review process for the Growler jet program expansion on Whidbey Island illegally failed to analyze the impacts of the noisy, often low-flying jets on classroom learning and local birds — a violation of the National Environmental Policy Act. This is the latest legal setback for the Navy in Attorney General Bob Ferguson’s lawsuit challenging the Whidbey Island Growler expansion.

AG Ferguson announces latest action in statewide initiative to reform towing industry and protect active duty service members’ rights
VANCOUVER — Attorney General Bob Ferguson announced today a court order will require Chuck’s Towing, a Clark County towing company, to pay three service members for illegally selling their cars at auction. The order also requires it to implement specific policies so it will not harm service members in the future.

AG Ferguson wins $1.5 million in refunds, debt relief to more than 1,000 Washington service members
TACOMA — Attorney General Bob Ferguson announced today that national jewelry outlet Harris Jewelers will provide more than $1.5 million in debt relief and refunds to more than 1,000 Washington service members. The company preyed specifically on active-duty military members and induced them into signing contracts that Ferguson asserted were violations of the federal Military Lending Act and the state Consumer Protection Act.

AG Ferguson: Asbestos contractor sentenced to jail time for environmental crimes
OLYMPIA — Attorney General Bob Ferguson today announced that Derrick Boss, the owner of Above and Beyond Asbestos Removal in Bothell, was sentenced to 105 days in jail and ordered to pay full restitution to his victims for environmental crimes he committed in his asbestos abatement business.
