Judge grants AG Ferguson’s request for maximum $24.6M penalty against Facebook parent Meta
OLYMPIA — A King County Superior Court judge today issued the maximum penalty of $24.6 million against Facebook’s parent company, Meta, in Attorney General Bob Ferguson’s campaign finance transparency lawsuit. Ferguson had requested the maximum penalty be imposed.

AG Ferguson’s price-fixing lawsuit nets $10.5 million for Washingtonians from Tyson Foods
Attorney General Bob Ferguson announced today the largest chicken producer in the nation will pay $10.5 million as a result of the Attorney General’s Office lawsuit over price-fixing on chicken products. Today’s announcement is the third and largest resolution in Ferguson’s lawsuit against 19 broiler chicken producers. The claims against the remaining 16 companies continue.

AG Ferguson, Rep. Slatter, Sen. Dhingra propose legislation to protect Washingtonians’ health data
Attorney General Bob Ferguson announced today that he is partnering with Rep. Vandana Slatter, D-Bellevue and Sen. Manka Dhingra, D-Redmond, to propose legislation in the 2023 legislative session to increase data privacy protections in the wake of the Dobbs Supreme Court decision empower Washingtonians with more control over their health data.

Court rules gold mining company violated the law more than 3,000 times in Okanogan County
OLYMPIA — A federal judge has ruled that Crown Resources committed thousands of violations of the Clean Water Act in its operation of the Buckhorn Mountain gold mine in Okanogan County. The order comes as part of Attorney General Bob Ferguson’s ongoing environmental citizen suit against Crown Resources and Kinross Gold.

AG Ferguson, Sen. Nguyen propose legislation to protect Washingtonians from utility shutoffs during extreme heat
Attorney General Bob Ferguson announced that he and Sen. Joe Nguyen, D-White Center, will propose legislation in the 2023 legislative session to ensure a utility company cannot shut off Washingtonians’ power or water if the temperature is 90 degrees or higher. Nineteen other states have similar protections in place.

CONSUMER ALERT: Attorney General’s consumer survey reveals that millions of Washingtonians may have been unintentionally enrolled in a subscription service
OLYMPIA — Attorney General Bob Ferguson released the results of a consumer survey revealing that 59% of Washingtonians may have been unintentionally enrolled in a subscription plan or service when they thought they made a one-time purchase, highlighting a problem that may be impacting millions of Washingtonians. The U.S. Census Bureau estimates that just over 6 million adults live in Washington state. Consequently, 59% represents 3.5 million Washingtonians. Respondents reported that pre-check boxes constitute a significant source of the problem.

AG Ferguson: Half-billion dollars to fight opioid epidemic will start flowing Dec. 1
SEATTLE — Attorney General Bob Ferguson announced that Washington state is set to receive the maximum $518 million under a resolution with three companies found to have played key roles in fueling the opioid epidemic. All 125 eligible local governments signed onto the half-billion dollar opioid resolution stemming from Ferguson’s lawsuit.
