The Office of Military and Veteran Legal Assistance (OMVLA) at the Washington State Attorney General's Office is seeking volunteer attorneys for our Call to Duty pro bono program. Volunteer attorneys provide 30-60 minutes of pro bono civil legal advice to Washington veterans, service members, and their families who can’t afford an attorney. Our volunteer attorneys choose who to help and contact clients on their schedule. There is no expectation of long-term representation. There is not enough legal aid capacity in Washington. OMVLA receives over 500 requests per year for help. Our recently-released Military and Veteran Civil Legal Needs Survey found that only 27% of Washington’s veterans, service members, and their families who tried to solve a legal problem actually got the help they needed.
