Office of the Attorney General

Attorney General

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

TACOMA – Attorney General Rob McKenna today announced that Gretchen Leanderson has been promoted to division chief of the Tacoma Division effective June 18.

As she steps up to replace Linda Moran as chief, Gretchen brings 20 years of experience with the Attorney General’s Office.  As the lead, she hopes to continue the positive progression in Tacoma.

“Linda Moran has done a great job this past year,” Gretchen said.  “Tacoma management and staff alike were pleased with her enthusiasm, energy, and ideas. I hope to build on the changes started under Linda’s leadership.”

Gretchen began her career with the Attorney General’s Office in 1988. She has served as an assistant attorney general in the Social and Health Services Division, the Torts Division, and most recently, the Labor and Industries Section in Tacoma.

In addition to her efforts for the AGO, Gretchen sits as the chair of the Pierce County Washington Women Lawyers and is a member of the WWL judicial qualifications committee. She also involves herself in several charity organizations such as the YWCA, the Sexual Assault Center, Community Health Care of Washington, and the Tacoma Rescue Mission.

“The Tacoma Division has a strong reputation for its dedication to the diverse work of our office,” McKenna said. “Gretchen has demonstrated solid leadership in that division and I’m certain she’ll continue that leadership as our new Tacoma division chief.”

Linda Moran will be returning as the Licensing and Administrative Law Division Chief. Linda joined the AGO in 1987, after a year of private practice, with the Licensing and Employment Security Division. In 1993, she became the division chief, and was reappointed when the division was realigned as the Licensing and Administrative Division in 2001.

“She has been a catalyst for positive change in Tacoma. Her incredible energy and collaborative management style have made the division stronger,” McKenna said. “Linda is an experienced manager and knowledgeable division chief. Having been with Licensing and Administrative Law since its inception, she is the natural choice to lead the division again.”
