Other LanguagesOLYMPIA…Attorney General Rob McKenna today announced Sharyl Kammerzell as the new Division Chief of the Washington State University Division of the Attorney General’s Office.
Kammerzell, who will assume her new role on Nov.16, has served as Senior Associate General Counsel in the Office of General Counsel at the University of Idaho since 2002.
Kammerzell said in her application letter she was interested in the WSU Division Chief position both because she welcomed the challenges inherent in the position and because she believed that with her experience, she could make a meaningful contribution to the institution and to the Attorney General’s Office.
As general counsel at the University of Idaho, Kammerzell’s experience ranged from “working with internal and external constituent groups on a multitude of institutional efforts” to “managing and advising the institution through complex litigation.”
“We were blessed with highly qualified candidates who wanted to serve WSU and Sharyl brings broad experience in higher education and public law to this important position,” McKenna said. “I’m proud to join the WSU Division in welcoming her to our team.”
Prior to her work at the University of Idaho, Kammerzell served as an assistant attorney general in the Oregon Dept. of Justice Natural Resources Section from 1998 to 2003.
She received a degree in Politics from Mount Holyoke College in 1988 and her law degree from the University of Colorado School of Law in 1995.
Kammerzell’s resume also includes working in the Peace Corps in Kpalime, Togo, West Africa, clerking for the Oregon Supreme Court and legal work on natural resource and Indian issues.
