OLYMPIA— Attorney General Rob McKenna today announced several new events as part of his "Operation: Allied Against Meth" campaign.

Friday, Mar. 16—Junior/Senior High School presentation in Montesano:
• 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.—Montesano Jr/Sr High School, 303 North Church Street

Friday, Mar. 23—High School presentations in Walla Walla:
• 8:45 to 9:45 a.m.—Walla Walla High School, 800 Abbot Road
• 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.—Walla Walla High School

Thursday, Mar. 29—High School presentation in Cashmere:
• 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.—Cashmere High School, 329 Tigner Road

Friday, Mar. 30—High School presentation in Leavenworth:
• 10:00 to 11:00 a.m.—Cascade High School, 10190 Chumstick Hwy

Thursday, Apr. 17—High School presentation in Olympia:

The Attorney General's Office launched the “Operation: Allied Against Meth” initiative in the spring of 2005.  Since the campaign began, the Attorney General has personally made 24 presentations to roughly 20,000 students from 30 schools.

McKenna will continue the tour with this round of spring 2007 presentations, partnering with Lead On America and other community-based organizations and industry associations to raise awareness and prevent use of methamphetamine.

McKenna also established convened the “Operation: Allied Against Meth” task force, a group of legislators, policy makers, industry representatives, treatment providers and law enforcement personnel, who have passed state policy initiatives to increase cooperation across jurisdictions and improve the state’s ability to combat meth use.

As Attorney General, he hired two new prosecutors to help counties attack the rising number of meth-related crimes.
