Free gas vouchers leave consumers fuming

As gas prices rose earlier this year, so did the number of consumers fuming about so-called free gas offers.

Vouchers offering free gas appeal to not only drivers, but also businesses looking for a low-cost promotional tool to lure potential customers to car dealerships, seminars, etc. But these incentives can be misleading.

Complaints sent to the Attorney General’s Consumer Resource Centers and blog comments posted to All Consuming reveal a similar pattern: these “free gas” vouchers aren’t easy to redeem. In order to qualify, consumers usually have to purchase at least $100 of gas per month from a specific brand (eg: Exxon, Shell, Citgo, etc.) then mail those receipts to a business. In return, they receive a gift card for $25 to be used for fuel at the same station brand. One Washington consumer who followed strict redemption steps said the gift card he received can't be used at any of the gas stations in his community. In fact, he was told it can only be redeemed at certain stations in a handful of other states -- the closest is Minnesota!

Since we first posted this story in November, we've received more than 160 comments from consumers across the nation who have sent in their paperwork but not received the advertised rebates.


  • A Vancouver, Wash., car dealer must reimburse customers who responded to one such promotion that the Washington Attorney General’s Office says was deceptive. Tidewater Marketing Global Consultants, Inc., was behind the rebate program. Under the agreement, Curt Warner Chevrolet must make good by providing a $40 gas card – that works – to each eligible consumer. For more information, see this news release.

  • The Florida Attorney General's Office has sued Tidewater Marketing Global Consultants, Inc., and its president, Crystal Clark, who operated and For more information, see the office's news release. In addition, the company agreed in February to a state takeover.
  • According to an article in the St. Petersburg Times, the Pinellas County Department of Justice and Consumer Services in Florida has opened a criminal investigation into the company. Separately, company president Crystal Clark pled guilty to drug trafficking charges for selling Oxycontin.

  • The really bad news: Unfortunately, Tidewater is reportedly broke. The St. Petersburg Times, which has been following the story, wrote on March 7: Tidewater Marketing Global Consultants, a Largo-Clearwater based company, owes customers more than $10 million but has

    less than $300 in its bank accounts. It has no real property, no cars. The story quotes a state-appointed receiver as saying it's extremely unlikely the company would ever be able to redeem the certificates and issue cards.
  • BBZ Resource Management of Mesa, Ariz., is another company that sells "free gas" and "free grocery" certificates on a bunch of Web sites including, and Owner Troy Warren, reportedly has had other legal troubles, according to this St. Petersburg Times story. All Consuming blog readers have posted mixed comments about this company. UPDATE: The company has filed for bankruptcy, according to this July 1, 2009, story.
  • KING 5 aired a report on Dec. 10, 2008 about Gasoline Redemption Center aka Free Gas Central. Reporter Jesse Jones said:"I called the people behind Free Gas Central, now called Gasoline Redemption Center. They told me the company had a catastrophic computer failure this summer and they are about 30 days behind on orders, and they rushed Betty's card right out."The report listed a toll-free phone number for Gasoline Redemption Center that is no longer in service.

I went to this seminar, got a certificate, also looked for the site, found it once, it has the same picture that is on the coupon. The gas can pouring gas over the words "Free Gas". I saved the site to fill out form online for the next day. When I clicked on favorites, I received a message, "Site not available, contact your administrator. My friend claims she found the site, sent the $5.00, redeemable with the coupon that they will send. I will check with her in month to see if she gets her coupon.

I too received one of these things. The face value is $225. Only after entering your coupon number in their online registration site are you told about the additional $5 "refundable" handling or filing fee (whatever) which you are prompted to pay via Paypal or mail using check or money order. Then you have to spend over $100/month to get the $25/month gas card. None of this was made clear when the promotion was "Test Drive a car, get free gas." This is absurd. Either something's free or it is not. I'm not someone who expects a free ride, for certain, but I actually bought a car that weekend, so I feel that my pique is not out of proportion to the insult.

I live in Ohio and I too ordered online to I sent a $5.oo money order as directed and as of this date (11-10-08) have never received a gas card. We were to receive a total of $150.00 ($25 each month). I received my gift code card from [EDITED - Name of Dealership] in Canton, OH. What is the possibility of filing a class action lawsuit against this company as there is still a website telling you how you can obtain free gas?

We purchased a car at [EDITED - NAME OF AUTO DEALERSHIP] in April and were offered a $500 gas voucher in lieu of an additonal $500 in trade in value. This is with "freebeegas." It's the usual deal, initially send them $5 for administrative fees, then send $100 worth of receipts each month and get a $25 gas card. We have been sending them in since May, feeling like a dope for doing it and have received zero gas cards. There is no number to call and you can only send email, which is answered with the usual excuses (we are behind, running 52 days from receipt to gas card, etc.). At least they aswer. The end result is you never get to see any gas cards. Fool me once...

I too have apparently been scammed by I was to have received $200 in free gas from [EDITED - Name of auto dealer] in Fairborn, Ohio. I paid the $5.00 and have religeously purchased $100 worth of BP gas each month for 5 months. They acknowledge receipt of the gas purchase receipts but have never sent a gas card for the $25 monthly free gas.

I Received one of these Gas Certificate on Aug.19,2008 I send $5.00 also never reived nothing. They said it would tale 6 week to get your gas card. Well it been more then 6 weeks.

Have sent in all 4 of my gas coupons with receipts, been waiting since July, have called, answering machine only, have emailed them, here's their answer every time: "I do apologize for the delay in service, I do see the account is past due and I will forward this to the processing department for the correction and shipment. I am not qualified to say why this has occurred but I am sure that this delay is not normal and the problem should be addressed immediately." [EDITED per blog policy.]

I got took also. I got my gift (??) card from a car dealer in my home state of Oklahoma. Supposed to have recieved $150.00 in free gas vouchers. Have sent in August, September and October. So far, NADA, ZILCH, and can't get an internet reply nor any information over the telephone. Oh well, like they say, there's a sucker born every minute.

I registered with,sent in my $5.00, and have followed all instructions. I have sent in my receipts since July. This is Dec.1 and I have not received one gift card. Also I have called several times, always getting voicemail, sent e-mails , and a separate written note in with November"s reciepts. I have yet to hear one word from them in any form. Would be happy to help with any class action or info that would prevent others from the scam. $5.00 doesn't seem like much, but who knows how many hundreds of people like me that they have collected from.

My Dad, also signed up for this program and sent vouchers in beginning in August of 08. He has not received any Gas Card as of this date.
I tried sending an email to the address on the paperwork and it came back 'un-deliverable'.

Well, it looks like a lot of us got taken!! I followed all the directions and sent receipts in 10/6/08. I have heard nadda. My e-mails are being returned as refused!!! And, the phone mail box is full so you can't even leave a message.

Oh my God! I am not alone. I was at a vacation package seminar where if we just sat through the presentation we were given a $300.00 gas voucher to activate and a free few days stay a participating hotel. Well, thank God we did not follow through with the hotel deal or I will be blogging about that mess as well. Anyway, I thought when I was calling the 800 number that they were just busy with calls - - always got an answering machine. I did get a person a month ago and they said that the $25.00 Gas card will be out in a few weeks - nothing yet and we are in December 2008. I have sent my receipts in for October 2008 and November 2008 and I am in my third month of collecting receipts. I am fuming as well. No reply from the internet email either. I did the $5 processing fee, which is supposed to be returned in the last month's gas card amount....hummmm.

This free gas central [EDITED BY AGO BLOG MODERATOR PER POLICY] is exactly that! Nothing but a bunch of [EDITED BY AGO BLOG MODERATOR PER POLICY]! There's no way to log on to anything, now way to redeem this supposedly valid voucher I received from a car dealership.
Beware!!! I actually beleived I had won $150.00 in free gas. I'm 52 and got railroaded once again! Oh well, just needed to vent. There's not even an actual web site that gives you good orderly direction as to how to go about getting your gas!
The harder I tried the smellier it got!!
Gotta go and let this whole thing go too!

I too have sent vouchers ,money and receipts since July 08. My experience is the same as the other bloggers , so today filed a complaint w/ the Ohio Attorney General. What else can be done? It appeared to be legitimate. Can you imagine the number of people they have scammed...adds up to big money.

I can't believe what these people are doing. I too was awarded a $450.00 gift card at my local car dealership in July. I faithfully sent in the $100.00 in receipts for August through November and have yet to see any $25.00 gift cards. I also received the same excuses when I would call. I have called several times recently and the "mailbox" was always full. I knew somthing wasn't right then, and now I find all these complaints. They very definately should be prosecuted for this and every person should be reimbursed for their amount of their voucher, if not more. I will be filing a complaint with the BBB in my state.

I just started the paperwork for my free $600 in gas rebates for purchasing a Mitsubishi TV. Sounds like I'll never get it. Does anyone have a phone number for ? Add my name to the list of those who were scammed. I'm an automotive journalist in California. The dealership that sold me my car made me this offer on a pre-printed card: With Every Test Drive Get $250 GAS VOUCHER, only at (name of dealership).
Like others, I paid my $5 and sent in receipts. After the first two months, Free Gas Central confirmed that they had gotten my receipts. After the third month, nothing. I sent them an email and it just got bounced back today, which is what led me to doing a Yahoo! search and to this website. Other than complaining to the dealerships and other businesses that made us these unfulfilled offers, what should we do? This fraud seems to be nation-wide.

I purchased a [EDITEDBY BLOG MODERATOR - BRAND NAME] TV today that offers this $600 gas voucher also. Naturally, finding this forum has me concerned. My offer gives me the option of taking a $100 Visa gift card or $600 in gas voucher program, but it looks like the same company administers both programs. [EDITED BY BLOG MODERATOR - BRAND NAME] states it does not sponsor this program; however, why would they endorse it from 12/25/08-1/4/09 if there is so much trouble with it before 12/25? If [EDITEDBY BLOG MODERATOR - BRAND NAME] knew this was a sham, they are also partly responsible for misleading customers. I am cautiously watching and waiting to see what happens in my situation.

I did get them to answer the phone today (800-514-0366) and a very pleasant, new employee told me a mass amount of cards will go out before January 15th and that under no circumstances is this a fraudulent business. More scarey is the fact that this young man was able to look up my account and verify that they do keep our addresses and personal information. Meaning our accounts numbers from the $5.00 fee they took too???

I too attended a seminar for time share and vacation share. Was told I would receive $300.00 in gas voucher. Found out I had to purchase $100.00 in gas per month with the first month to inlcude $5.00 and would be re-imbursed the $5.00 on the last voucher. I also will be available for any class action if you find the source. Have turned in two months of gas purchases and have rec'd nothing. They need to be found and jailed.

My husband and I went to one of those vacation seminars. We got the info from a person handing out the paperwork at the Brewer's game in Milwaukee, We were to get $300.00 in free gas, after our $5.00 enrollment fee. We were also supposed to get two free nights at a Mariotte in Las Vegas. We still have not heard from them either. Please, people who read this, learn from our mistakes. Make sure you notify the business that issued the card (car dealer, tire dealer etc) they paid a fee to be in this and they are getting ripped off too. Let them know so they can try to help!!! 3 months and no cards yet!!

Same thing for me except I got my voucher from the company that actually prints these up and sells them to companies to use for whatever promotion.

I had them give me extras sicen my employer bought them and I too, was scammed the $5.00. I am an email in to the contact fro the places I bought the certs from.

They were not cheap--- the certificates were I think $12.95 for the $250, and $14.95 for the $500.00 My employer spent a lot buying about 1000 of these int eh two different denominations.

All the same as others have. Sent all receipts and vouchers as reguired and received emails that they were received at first but that has been all. Have emailed 1st(they said they were running behind) 2nd(tried calling next n0 answer) 3rd sent a not so nice letter with November 2008 receipts. I did receive a email until today 1-3-09 that recepits were received. Something needs to be done. Can not beleive this scam is all over the $5.00 we sent them.

I can not get ahold of any one to obtain the vouchers to send in with the receipts. I feel this may be a scam. I got a $500.00 free gas card when I purchased over $1,000.00 in furniture.

I was supposed to receive $300 in gas cards ($25 per month for 12 months). After paying the $5 fee and religiously sending in the $100 in receipts (to the same gas Co.) each month..... No nada tostada in return other than a few e-mails initially and nothing past early-December. This is a pretty basic item to be filing a class action suit over, and there may be nothing left but bones.....But, let's proceed!

The site is still I sent receipts since October. I was told they had a computer crash and the gas cards would go out the middle of January. Now that it is 1-8-2009, I am wondering now after reading all this. I also sent $5 thru paypal. I am also going to see if they will answer the "contact us". I too have been scammed. Got my vouchers in Sept.O8, from a Ford dealership in Texas, sent in receipts and vouchers starting in Oct.O8 and have recieved nothing. Tried calling have gotten NO response .

Same here, received $300.00 offer for vacation ownership presentation. Have been seending in receipts since October 2008 and have received nothing back to date, except emails indicating that my receipt were received in good order. I have been unsuccessful in calling them or in emailing them at which is the email address I was given.

I sent in my $5 in late October and have not received anything. I had corresponded via email and did receive a response back in late December. I just spoke with someone one the phone with the redemption center and they had me in their computer system and promised to mail something out. Here's the number that I called: 1-800-514-0366

I also received a FreeBee gas coupon and paid $5.00 and have been sending in my receipts since August 2008. The first few months I did recieve an email saying that they received my receipts in good order. But I have not received the first $25.00 gas card. Tried to email them several times always comes back undeliverable. Tried to call several times always put on hold for long periods of time and then cut off. Call back and can't get through. After reading all these blogs, I guess I can give up on ever seeing those gift cards for free gas and kiss that $5.00 goodbye. Boy do I feel stupid.!!!

I have sent in the receipts for the past 5 months and have not received one $25 gas card from Free Gas Central. They are apparently running a scam operation. Florida attny general should shut them down - and should be lawsuit filed by someone to recover our money and time. Their web site still exists..

I too attended a seminar in exchange for $300.00 in gas cards and a Cruise with RCL. I have sent the $100.00 receipts every month since October and have never received any $25.00 gas card from Free gas central. I am totaly frustated! Thank god I did not try to redeem the cruise prize and put up the $200 per person for two to reserve the special offer.

i have had the same experience. I spoke with someone 12/19/08 and they said their database was down and I would definitely receive something by early January '09 (a couple vouchers since I began this in September) and I still have yet to receive them. I tried calling the number now and its a dead number. Someone help me get my vouchers like I was promised!!!!

Add us to the name of people who have never received a gift card. The telephone number connects you to a constant busy signal and forget about receive a reply via e-mail. Beware if you ever see "Gas Redemption Center in Largo, Florida".

In August, the dealership I work for gave out 500 gas card vouchers worth $300 during a sales event. Not one of our customers has received a cent back and here it is JANUARY!!! Our business is suffering due to the negligence of Those jokers ripped off our customers for $5 and also our dealership paid $5 for each card. We thought we were giving out a legitimate discount program, but are now really paying the price.

I guess I was caught up in this as well. I have been sending in gas receipts since August to Free gas, benn getting emails that everything is in order, and have not received gas vouchers/cirtificates. I did get someone to answer the phone in December and they stated they were going to release the gas cirtificates for August through November. I still have not received anything. They got my $5.00 too. I am going to report them to the BBB.

I guess Free Gas got me too. Paid the $5.00 and I have been sending in gas receipts in since August. Have received emails stating they have been received in good order.
No gas coupons yet. I did get someone on the phone in December and they stated they were going to release my coupons for the months August through November. I still have not received anything. They need to be reported.

i have been scammed as well. i started the process in aug of 2008. i have sent a total of 5 sets of 100.00 receipts and received noted. i have e-mailed a total of 25 times and talked an individual at the company on to be met with the same line. we're running behind give us three more weeks. i'm ready to file a lawsuit and put these people out of business for running a scam.

This is very disturbing. I purchased some expensive rims for my new car in July 2008. I justified the purchase from an online website because I was awarded a $500 gas certificate through With the cost of gas and 2 vehicles, I had no problem meeting the $100 per month spending requirements. I have been sending in receipts/vouchers since September by certified mail ($3.12 each month) and have yet to receive anything. I got in touch with someone on the phone back in November and they said they were behind, but that I would see the gift cards at the end of the month. I just checked and the original website is no longer valid. Anyone else dealing with this company? I just left a message for the FL Attorney General, but I am up in NJ so who knows what is going on.

I too have been sucked into this scam. I was hoping that I wouldn't come across a forum like this but now I know why I haven't been receiving my gas cards as well. Since November I've been sending the vouchers on time and I've yet to see any gas cards. What a shame.

We have also been scammed by this company, "Free Gas Central/Gasoline Redemption" and want to be part and added to any and all legal actions taken against this fraudulent company. We followed all of the requirements and have only received one redemption since July, 2008.

I got scammed too. Bought furniture from [BLOG MODERATOR EDIT - NAME OF FURNITURE STORE ]with a promise of $500 in free gas from FreeBee I sent in the receipts for November and December, 2008. I have not seen any gift cards yet. Neither can you contact them on phone or e-mail. The e-mail comes back as undeliverable and the phone gives a message every single time "All circuits are busy, try your call later." I have yet to call the retailer, remains to be seen if they will take any responsibility for giving us this false promotion.

Same deal. Tried to talk my truck salesman down by another $200 so he handed me a $400 gas card application through Gascentral. Needless to say that was in October, been sending in all the receipts and nothing in return. I e-mailed them and got 3 undeliverable messages. Checked the site and found they have hundreds of complaints. They had two additional phone numbers to call (866)328-8355 and (800)514-0366. As of today they are disconnected!!! Well, it looks that there are plenty of other suckers, just like me, who fell for the free gas scam.

I was given the runaround about having to wait 54 days for my first free gas card, and I continued waiting for that first one while at the same time continuing to file for the next 3 months worth of gas cards, each valued at $25. And, I gassed up at my specified gas station preference, oftentimes said gas station being a bit more expensive than others in the same neighborhood.

Now, I just called them again and the message from the phone company is "that number is invalid". So, the phone number of 1-800-514-0366 has apparently been pulled and I'm assuming that the next step will be for their website to disappear too.

I wonder if there is any way of complaining to the original companies where people got those "free gas" offers?

We just received our vouchers for up to $600 in gas for purchasing a [BLOG MODERATOR EDIT - NAME OF TELEVISION MANUFACTURER] LCD TV on black friday but haven't begun sending them in yet. This promotion was part of the reason we chose this TV. Doesn't [EDITED - NAME OF MANUFACTURER] have some responsibility as this offer was advertised for only their brand of TV? Don't these companies that offer this with their products have an idea of this or do they have nothing to do with it and its all the Gas Redemption Center scamming on their own? I don't understand how these big retail places can get away with offering scam companies? Anyone know?

Today I was told by elite marketing a firm hired to help get the cards out that my best bet was to call the attorney general of Forida. I guess I'll be doing that tomorrow. I've e-mailed my dealer who offered this to "seal the deal" and now he's not responding either!

Another victim in California! Emails not deliverable, phone number non-working and over-all a BIG SCAM!

I went to the Attorney General of Florida's website and searched for Tidewater Marketing Global Consultants and found a case number L08-3-1160 with an allegation of "unfair business practices associated with the promotion, redemption, use and administration of free gasoline vouchers, certificates and offers". The unit handling the case is the Economic Crimes Division in Tampa, FL. They have a Consumer Contact Form online that needs to be printed and mailed in to the Attorney General's office. [AGO BLOG MODERATOR COMMENT - EDITED. PLEASE VISIT THE FLORIDA AGO'S WEB SITE FOR THE LATEST ON ITS CASE AND ANY COMPLAINT PROCEDURES.]

I plan to talk with the car dealership that I received this offer from and let them know we have all been duped. Hopefully, they will jump on the consumer bandwagon and help stop these theives!

I've already resigned myself that I may never see my $100 in free gas or the $5 I spent to register. But, at least, I hope this company d/b/a and will be reprimanded!

I received $300 in gas redemption coupons (twelve monthly coupons of $25 each.) You are required to submit $100 in receipts along with the monthly coupon and then WAIT. I did receive a $25 gift card for the first two months. As of today, I have three more months submitted and seven coupons to go. I called the 1-800 number today and a recording came on that the number is invalid. I then googled and found out about the Florida Attorney General's case and all the other complaints. I received mine from a local company that sells vacation real estate. I called them today and they are aware of it and have offered to make it good. I sent them a letter along with copies of the months for which I haven't received anything along with the next seven monthly vouchers. All I can do is wait and hope

We too have been scammed. I thinkthis company needsto be investigated by the federal government and the owners thrown behind bars for stealing money. We bought a new Hyundai in Las Vegas and got this voucher. Wehave been sending in these vouchers since spring of 2008. We have not received the first gas card from this company. However, we continue to get emails syaing "We have received your receipts". Then they tell us if the vouchers are received by a certain date to expect the gas cards within two weeks and if it is after a certain date expect the gas card from 4 to 6 weeks or something to that nature. I am game for a class action lawsuit against this ompany. How many thousands of American citizens has paid the $5.00 fee and not received the first gas card or been refunded the $5.00. I have not contacted this company because I am too busy too fool with scammers like this. I know they claim to have had a major computer failure and lost information but if that is so why do they still have my email and all my information...scammers that is all there is to it.

I see I am not alone. I have been sending in the required documents since Sept. I was able to get a human Jan 5, 2009 and was told that they had a compauter crash that lasted 2 months...that is when I started to worry...the lady assured me that I wouled receive the Sept and Oct gift cards no later than the end of Jan...still the phone only rings busy. I contacted the BBB in their area and am heading to the Florida and Ohio AG's site to file a complaint. It is not the $5.00 or the gift cards dare they sscam all of us like this.

I, too, am another one of the many freegas suckers that have been scammed. I received my voucher from the local car dealership. I paid my $5 through PayPal and have been sending in the $100 of receipts for each month since last Sept 2008. I have not received anything except confirmations that the receipts were received "in good order". I called them in November at 1-800-514-0366 (as on the website) and the person told me it will be the middle of December when I will receive my first gas card. The delay is due to some so-called "computer problems". I didn't receive anything by Christmas so I called them again and now they told me it will be the first of the year. I called back in January and the person now told me that I have two cards coming to me and I will receive them by January 21, 2009. I hadn't received anything as of last week so i called back again last Friday (1/30). They now told me that I have 3 gas cards coming to me and that I would have them by this Friday (2/6). I called back again today at the same phone number and guess what??? The computer telephone operator says that the "phone number is invalid". I guess that freegascentral packed up their belongings and all OUR money and headed for the hills. What can be done to this company if anything for us to receive what we were promised???

Well, here's just one more person that fits the profile I've seen on all the complaints being issued. I received a scratch off in the mail,drove 32 miles rd trip to the dealership to get "authorized" then paid the 5.00 and have mailed in receipts monthly by way of CERTIFIED mail which costs @ 3.30 every mo.. So far, I have not received the first gift card and I mailed in since Sept. '08. I did go online and put in a complaint directly to And last mo. (Jan.) almost 4 wks. ago and said my receipts were UNACCEPTABLE for what reason they did not say; would inform me on the returned letter. I haven't even received that yet!!! I supposedly won 450.00 in free gas. Right.

My Husband and I have been waiting since August 08 for our vouchers. I have called free gas central and got nowhere. I was told 2 weeks ago by the advertising agency that bought these gas cards ,from free gas central that the vouchers would be here by2/5/09. Well, we did not receive them. Any one know how to file a class action suite? It kind of looks like that's what has to be done. As far as I am concern this company is comminting a fraudulent act and this should be consisdered a criminal matter.
Free gas central stated to me back in OCT. My vouchers were prcoessed and I would receive them in 2 weeks. what ever! I hve not received anything yet and all I know they probably made a ton of money not only from selling the gas cards to advertising agencies but also a ton of money from the $5.00 registration fee required.

Just a repeat of everyone else. Yes, I too felt extremely stupid. I was to receive my $500 dollars in free gas from with the purchase of a furniture set. After not receiving the cards and getting the standard phony email responses, I contacted [AGO BLOG MODERATOR EDIT - NAME OF FURNITURE STORE] (Algonquin, IL), to make them aware of this. They in turn contacted who handling their marketing and promotions. I am currently waiting to hear back. It amazes me to think of the magnitude of this scam. WOW, $5 from just say, a few hundred thousand individuals across the USA can add up. But to be able to scam some of the biggest retail markets, making them look bad and getting away with it. I do realize that the $5 + my stamp will not make me or break me but I would certainly like to hear from the businesses who bought into this. Do they have any recourse? I am no law expert but if this were ever to amount to a suit, I would certainly expect at a minimum $505.42 (wishful thinking I know).

Please add me to the growing number of unsatisfied "gas card" victims. Bought a new car at a dealership in Tustin CA and was having trouble getting my head around the payment. The sales person closed me with an offer of $500 worth of gas. I thought "great, sold!" Well 6 month of sending these receipts in and nothing. Pretty shameless to be using a KNOWN scam to lure customers into buying your product. I want my $500 that was promised to me at the close of sale. Otherwise I paid for services not rendered. Don't fall victim to this hopeless marketing ploy!

I am in the same boat. I have filed, and urge everyone to file complaints with the Florida Attorney General. Go to the web site, it only takes a few minutes. There are hundreds of complaints so far, and the have been really slow to respond. They are getting flooded now, and staring to wake up. The BBB is another place to respond. The have received over 100 complaints so far. You call them and they send out a form. Call the Attorney General every week as I have done, to keep the pressure on them. If we all do it, they will be handling us full time!
Lastly, you can go to and read the articles. They do not have much good to say about the Attorney Generals office, and its poor response to this problem. [EDITED PER AGO BLOG COMMENT POLICY.]

I have sent emails but no response. I was about to send in the check just to make sure that was the reason I had not gotten the coupons. Lucky me, I decided to go to this site first. Saved me $5. I received my gift card from an auto dealer for $150 free gas.I went through the ptocess and signed up,however after sending in the proper documents for Oct,Nov,Dec and Jan it looks like I just wasted my $5 bucks plus postage. You can't call or e-mail them so your just another sucker.

Test drove a truck in Leavenworth, KS and received $500 voucher. Signed up in April with Secure Gas Redemption...same folks, same phone number, different name. Actually received $100 in VISA Gas Cards for May, June, July, August, and used them with no problem. Now they owe me 6 more and they have dropped off the face of the earth. Heard all the excuses...server crashed, data base crashed, moved to a new building, over whelmed by volume of participants, mass mailing going right out, etc.

Sent in an e-mail compaint on 12/22/08, and got a response nine days later about the "sequel server database crash" they supposedly had, and they said I WILL get everything promised. That was 12/31/08. The FL Attorney General Economic Crimes Division is investigating them now.

I had to test drive a vehicle to receive a $200 gas voucher. I to had to spend $5.00 to receive the redemption package, wich was promised to be returned on the last payment. I guess I was one of the lucky ones,due to the fact that I actuall have received six of the $25.00 gas cards.I actuall had to call and basically ask where the redemption card was or when it would be coming in the mail and was always treated with the upmost respect and put at the top of the mailing list,and then had it wihin one week.Have not been able to make contact with then since june of 2008 and now their phone number no longer exists. had no problem redeming the cards ,i guess due to the fact tha I used the largest retailer in the world as my redempton location, not really sure. It would be great if they were to be located and forced to comply with original agreement. At least I got my $5.00 worth. And to add a quick note in conclusion of this comment ,when I talked with them, they did state that they were over whelmed in the responce to the gas redemption, but on the same note, who among us could have told them that would happen. I would have figured that they would had a work force of 100's but when I was in communication with them, it seemed as if the work force was very small.

I took a test drive at a dealership where I had previously bought 3 autos. I tried to e-mail the fl AGO or BBB and found I could get a free membership for one mo. of complaining, but it would be $19.95 per mo. afterward if I did not cancel. I am getting paranoid.

Scammed as well! Think about it folks, $5 most of us didn't think twice about going ahead with that thinking we were all going to get rewarded several times over! I've often said "If I could get everyone in America to send me $1 (ligitemetaly of course!)
how rich I would be" They figured out a way to get just they people who are affected by gas prices to send them $5 (pretty much everyone!) how rich must they be now?

They have always acknowledged my receipts have been recieved and have always responded to my e-mails. What they haven't done is cough up any of the cards that they promised and everyone seems to be waiting for!

I was beginning to think this must be a scam but oh well what they heck I only have $5 and a bit of time invested from the salesperson who handed me the certificate in the first place (who also was obviously duped into this program as well, but they got what they wanted out of the deal, who's gonna turn down free gas, luckily we didn't get sucked into buying what they were selling, sorry to those of you who did). But now that I read this blog after sending my latest "threat" letter I am convinced I will not see anything from them. They were counting on people to take this same attitude and just let it drop. I am just not sure where to go now or if from a personal standpoint it is worth pursuing. I know for the greater good it should be pursued but I just don't know how far I am willing to go. I would definatley be part of a class action.

My story is basically the same as everyone else. I paid the $5 refundable fee and for the last three months I have been sending in my receipts but have gotton nowhere. I have gone as far as contacting the marketing place where I got the certificate but they are not helpful either. I have not been able to get through to the customer service at all and the 800 number not longer works. My e-mail are not returned. At this point I would at least like the $5 back in addition to the postage. I cannot believe that placed like this are allowed to do business and they certainly should be investigated.

Well.....I wont repeat my sad story because it is nothing everybody else hasnt heard. I did contact the furniture store that gve me the offer as part of my deal. They had somebody contact me from a 2nd party vendor and they are going to send me a whole new voucher from another company that actually does send out the gas cards (so they say). So, here we go again. They also said that I will still get the 3 that I am waiting fo from this company (doubt it). Because of the aggrivation, they sent me a voucher for 2 nights and 3 days in a hotel. They said it is good for 40 locations. We will see if there are any worth going to or close enough to NJ. Well, they got me too. They have two phone numbers and a couple of excuses on their website. The numbers don't work, and the emails keep bouncing back as undeliverable. For the first couple of months, they even sent me emails stating that they received my gas receipts.

My guess is that the poor economy hit them too, and they just didn't have the cashflow to meet demand.

Luckily, I'm out just $5 plus a few stamps. I may attempt to contact the car dealership to see if they have any insight, but I'll likely just consider this whole mess as Stupid Tax and move on.

I have the same complaints as everyone else here. The website is still up, but it lists a special customer service number to call since they say they are having problems with their 1-800 number. Call that number and you'll get a message that it has been disconnected. Call the 1-800 number and you'll get a message that it is invalid. Send an email to them and it will come back as undeliverable. I think we're all out of luck as this scam has pulled up stakes and moved on to the next address. My suggestion is go back to the organization that gave you the certificate in the first place and try to get something from them. Good luck but I don't plan to waste any more time trying to get something from

I too have been taken for a ride, we bought a car in Michigan, yes the car makers , and was too have the gas cards, well no way.So in the car capital ,have not gotten my gas cars, myself and everyone else should call the dealerships every day to ask where the gas cards are, and ask for the postage we have paid, not to mention we should have interest on the gas cards, I think that might get some attention. It was the deciding factor for going with this company for my new tire purchase back in October '08. I have been sending in my $100 worth of receipts since October '08 and I have received NOTHING except emails saying my receipts have been received and nothing else is needed from me at this time. I have put in a call to [EDITED BY BLOG MODERATOR - NAME OF TIRE COMPANY] and have also filled a complaint with the Attorney General of Florida. I have been unable to contact by either email or by phone. The company had done away with the $5.00 requirement the month I joined the program so at least all I am out so far is postage for mailing my receipts to them. I work for a retailer that was scammed by this company. When our company made the decision to offer these to our customers as a "thank you for your purchase", we had no idea of the fiasco that would ensue. We can't apologize enough to our customers and are doing everything that we can to help our customers work with this redemption company in getting their gift cards owed to them. Now we can't even get through on their corporate line. We had to pay for the certificates and passcodes and they had no problem cashing our check. We did look into the company when we purchased the certificates and, at that time, there were no negative posts about this company. They even had references. It is a horrible situation to be in and I wish that the upper management had chosen against offering this to our customers in the first place... I'm quite certain that we will lose customers over this. And while I completely understand their anger and frustration, I hope they also recognize that we were duped, too. Not only are we out all of the money that we paid this redemption company (which was thousands and thousands of dollars), but we are losing our valued customers, too. It is horrible.

I was also a victim of this rediculous scheme. I drove 50 miles out of the way in order to get a truck that was a little cheaper and was promised the $500.00 in gas. Do the Florida State Attorney General’s Office, other states’ AGOs or the Feds (since this scam crossed state lines months ago) monitor this blog (thankfully provided by the State of Washington’s AGO and the helpful efforts of Kristin)? If so, hopefully they will read this particular posting and then, at a minimum, use this blog to let us know what they are doing about this matter. Frankly, I would hope that they would be interested enough in this matter to contact us individually via the email addresses which we have provided when we posted our litany of complaints.

Through their advertising and on-site offers, many businesses across the United States have offered their potential customers expensive merchandise for sale contingent on the promise that if they visited auto dealerships or bought merchandise, including TV sets, they would get a valuable “free” gas voucher for doing so. People, myself included, have duly paid their required $5 fee to the scammer (revealing to them our addresses and other personal information in the process), have gone out of our way to purchase gas from one particular brand name of gas station, made the effort to collect qualifying gas receipts totaling at least $100 month after month, and spent money on postage and supplies to mail them in. Despite meeting these many time consuming and costly requirements, we have not been sent our earned “free” gas cards.

It is about time the states and the Federal government took aggressive actions to prosecute these scammers and perhaps to also hold accountable the businesses who, knowingly or otherwise, participated in this fraud at the expense of their customers. Additionally, if they are not already doing so, government should issue urgent Press releases to the media to warn consumers about what is going on, about making purchase decisions contingent upon receiving “free gas” certificates or, for those who have already fallen victim to this promotion at local businesses, at least not send in their $5 and then waste even more of their time and money mailing in any more qualifying gas receipts. I too have fallen for this scam with Free Gas Central. I actually talked to them several times and they told me they were moving so they got very behind. They told me they saw that I have some vouchers ready to be sent and I have not seen a one of them. Thankfully we have only lost $5.00 but something really needs to be done about this. In this economy no one can afford scams like this. I believe the companies who offer this incentive should be punished also.

The last person I talked to said that my September gift card should be at my house any day. It is now February 24, 2009. I talked to that guy three weeks ago. The phone number I had for the company has been disconnected and the website ( is no longer available. My wife decided to do a search which led us to this page. I agree that something needs to be done. There are too many scams going around today during our recession. If someone wants to start a class action lawsuit, please include me. I started last Nov. When I heard nothing I emailed to no avail. I then called the 800 # and got through one time. I was told about the big computer crash too. I am in that field so I know even the largest crash can be dealt with in 30 - 60 days tops! I then called the non-800 # in Jan and was told "yes I see the card is active but no information is in our database, so we'll just start you over in March and I'm emailing you the vouchers as we speak. As of today, 2/24, I have nothing, the website returns an error that the address is unknown and even the 800 # is down. I am not in WA but in IL and do not know if there is something similar here but will start looking. Everyone else, retailers included, should run as fast as they can away from this.

Boy, do I feel like a sheep. $300 gas voucher offer was promoted by a travel agency in Cleveland and given as a gift for sitting through a three-hour promotional speech and video. I have been sending in my gas receipts since August of 2008 and have not received anything other than: "We have received your receipts in good order." Lovely! I still have yet to receive any "gift cards" and can't seem to contact anyone at Free Gas Central...perhaps due to their extended vacations on our dollars. The question is who do I contact now? The travel agency? I've never been a quitter, so let's act.

I for one would like to know how much money was taken by innocent people and if something can be done to this company for what they did! I am in the same boat as everyone else. I have a $300 voucher and have sent in 4 months of receipts. The major car dealership I received the voucher from has went out of business so I can't even contact them. I was able to speak with someone at the 800-514-0366 at the beginning of January and was told my first card was going out that week. Then I called back the last week of January was was told about the computer failure they had and how behind they were. I was told they hired an outside company to help with the mass mailouts they were doing. I was promised to be caught up (3 gas cards) by the second week of February. Still NOTHING!! I didn't realize just how many people have been taken by this. They made a fortune by charging everyone of us $5.00. I hope something will come of this since they ripped off so many people.

I too went to a time share seminar where I was promised two free nights at a [EDITED BY BLOG MODERATOR - NAME OF HOTEL CHAIN] chain of hotels and $300.00 in free gas gift cards. I signed up online ( for the free gas and sent them $5.00 (promised to be some sort of refundable 'down payment'/'shipping'). Their contract says that I must spend $100.00 with the same brand of gas, send them receipts for each month and they will send me a free $25 gift card each month for the whole year. I've been sending in receipts for November & December 2008 and January & February of 2009 and still have not gotten anything! I had purchased tires and started in the Free Gas Redemption in November 2008. I sent my reciepts each month till February when I searched the internet and found other complaints of non-payment.
I had recieved an email stating my 1st months reciepts were recieved, but have not recieved any other information or contact from company. I have tried calling both their 1800 and local numbers with no contact, and I sent an email with no contact.

I don't enjoy giving my information to companies that do not deliver on promised services. I also feel something needs to be done. If they created a marketing plan and involve other companies and all should be held accountable.

This is why we should have regulation on all kinds of discount coupons, promotions, printable vouchers and other similar products. Apparently I was also scammed. I was given a $300 free gas coupon from a major dealership and followed all the instructions, sending receipts each month. I got a couple of emails and one phone call message but never received any gas vouchers or cards. Today I received my envelope with February receipts back marked "refused". I should have known better. At least I am only out $5.00 and postage. I suppose it could have been worse.

I would like to know how many $5.00 they scammed. I started to send in reciepts in October 2008. I was suppose to get (4) $25.00 gas cards and as of March 8th have not received a thing. They did respond that they received my receipts and they were in order and I should continue to send my receipts which I did. We too signed up for (now in Oct. 2008 as a test drive promo. We apparently did pay a $5 fee, though I cannot see a record of it. I have diligently sent in my receipts for Nov, Dec, Jan., and Feb. I received auto-confirmations for Nov. and Dec., but none for January. February's receipts were returned to me as "Refused unable to forward". The website says they are still around and that they are having trouble with their phone system (gee, I wonder why!!!). I don't feel that I'm out much as I didn't make a major purchase to get my "free gas", but I do feel put out about wasting my time in collecting and submitting my receipts. I'm discouraged by all these complaints, but wonder if anyone has had a good experience with them. At what point do you determine that this is no longer worth your time and effort?

Same here I sent my $5 via paypal and my mom sent $5 , sent in all gas proof etc.. I have yet to receive anything or hear from them. They seem to have disconnected their phone!

re: FreeGasCentral - After sending in receipts since Sept 2008 - (Sept, Oct, Nov, Dec) - (I am currently sending in Jan & Feb) -- I finally received ONE gas card with a letter about their server crash - and requesting my phone, email, redemption station?, registration date, first redemption month, "how many cards have you received since you enrolled", and "name of company that provided you with gas redemption certificate." It said "your 2009 redemption dec and jan are secure in our system - we ahve enclosed your 2009 gift card to prevent additional current redemption delays. This will not void past due cards or affect your receiving pas due cards." Requests that I EM the info to (Christina Hery) - so I guess I will do so and see what happens..

I managed to get 3 of the $25 gift cards from Free Gas Central. My February submission was just returned as undeliverable. I did pay the $5 fee, but I've gotten $75 back. I wish I would get more, but it sounds like I should be happy with what I've gotten.

I ordered 3 bottles of a product that improves your gas mileage by up to 25%. It cost me $76 but I was supposed to receive 3 ,$25 dollar gift cards and 1 $30 card. I sent in the 4 required vouchers w/ $100 of gas receipts starting in aug '08 . I called and e-mailed and contacted the florida att'y generals office. I finally gave up concluding I was scammed. Guess what?? Today I received a $25 visa gift card with a long letter of excuses as above( computer crash). I was told to e-mail my status to "christine". the site won't accept my e-mail. Glad I at least got $25 back. Will I ever get the remaining $80 they owe me? Time will tell!!

I received a coupon for $225 in free gas from a Honda dealer in Redlands, CA. I paid the $5 set up fee (to be reimbursed with my final payment) via PayPal in 8/2008. I mailed at least $100 in gas receipts from Sam's Club with the redemption coupon each month for 09/2008, 10/2008, 11/2008, 12/2008, 01/2009, and 02/2009. I received emails indicating my receipts were received in order for the first three months. I have never received any gift cards; only promises that they are on their way. My receipts and redemption coupon for 02/2009 was returned by the United States Postal Service as "REFUSED." Add me to the list of people who were taken by this company.

We also received 2 vouchers for $225.00 each for purchasing a truck from a local dealer. Received conformation for Nov. Dec. and Jan. I received no cards so I called in January because I thought I was doing something incorrectly. He assured me I was not and that they had had computer problems and I would get my card by the end of January. Now the phone has been diconnected!!!!!!

Why can't they pierce the corporate viel and go after the owners of the freegas website and company? It is stupid to say, "oh, the company only has $300 in it's bank account". This is horrible. I made a purchase at a furniture and was informed that I would receive up to $500 in gas gift cards. I have submitted my documentation for Dec, Jan, Feb and noticed that when I kept sending emails they were undeliverable. Of course when I called the numbers today they appeared to be no longer working. I located this site and I see that I am not the only one. Someone should be prosecuted for this. This makes no sense that people spend their hard earned money and have people like this that live to make up scams. If this continues then people will feel it is appropriate to continue in this manner.

I sure wish I had done my research being going through all the work of signing, paying my $5 and saving and mailing those darn receipts. Just got the envelope back non-deliverable today and started looking into this. Just like many of you, we bought a truck and the dealer gave us $450 certificate for free gas. I was just as dismayed when I realized how much effort I was going to have to put out to get my gas cards, but all to no avail I see now. My husband is on his way to the dealership right now to have a word with them. I know it wont do any good, but they charged us a ridiculous high doc fees and took his old truck at a super low trade in and I thought this free gas would help "offset" it. I am still going to post my complaint with the Florida Attny General even though it probably doesn't matter.

I have sent in gas receipts since April of 08 and have called numerous times, and they keep making excuses. I feel like a fool. I have only lost five dollars and my pride, LOL! I wish there could be a lawsuit, but from what I have read it sounds like that is not a good option because the company is broke. Gee, what a surprise! My husband and I have faithfully been sending $100 in gas receipts to "Free Gas Central" since July of 08, not to mention the $5 up-front fee we paid. We have yet to receive a single gas card, and my last envelope of receipts actually got returned to sender, that the address no longer exists. The only reason I continued to mail the receipts was b/c I actually did get a response to my email I sent, saying "we are behind on mailings of the gas cards, but assure you they are on the way." One month I was even $5 under on my receipts and SOMEONE was there checking b/c they sent it back to why would they pay someone to sit there and check, go through the trouble, and then never mail the cards? I think this is absolutely terrible, namely b/c of the WASTE WASTE WASTE of time it has been. We were suppose to receive $500 in gas vouchers, and have received not a single cent, meanwhile spending the time to make sure we go to a Shell station, save our receipts, tally up the total each month and mail them in with the voucher. I've just never even heard of a business being so unethical and scamming.

Somehow, some way - you'd think that the car, furniture or whatever dealers would owe it, out of good faith, to offer a sound bonus. Go to the Better Business Bureau site and read the bad news, this redemption co. never ever had the equity to make good. No wonder our economy is in the toilet bowl. I'm a broker with BBZ Resource Management and have worked with this company since August of 2008. On the surface, BBZ may seem similar to Tidewater, but beneath the two companies are very different. Not only am I a broker, but I also participate in the redemption process (to make sure things are going as they say they should). I've been very impressed with the management of the company, as well as their commitment to meet their obligations with my clients and their customers. Troy Warren has been right up front with addressing the claims in the Tampa Bay article, front and center. The article does have some tid-bits of truth, but is not accurate in making the many claims it makes about Mr. Warren. BBZ recently moved into larger facilities to better serve both their clients and end users. In addition, they're coming out with a pharmacy rebate certificate, in addition to the gas, grocery, and merchandise rebate certificates they already offer businesses. I have additional information for anyone who's interested in finding out more about the integrity of the company - understand that I do not work for BBZ directly, but service their clients as a broker. i recieved a certificate for $225 from free gas central from a friend of mine who won it at work but didn't want it. when i finally got around to registering it online the site said they were no longer accepting new vouchers but to check back shortly and now it just takes you to the tide water marketing site. although i never had to send in the $5 fee i feel totally scammed since i was ready and willing to recieve "free" gas. if it wasn't for my procrastinating i too would have been fooled. i should have known it was too good to be true. i hope someone gets in some serious trouble for this.

I have tried to contact them via the website and have not been sucessful. I finally sent a request by mail to Largo, FL to register for my gas redemption voucher. I did this on Jan 13, 2009 and have received nothing. I have tried calling the service number and noone answers.
This is a scam. I spent $300 for a vacation to Branson, MO and was told I would receive $300 in gas coupons. This is a big rip off.

I have had the same complaints as everyone else here. We received the free gas certificate from the Toyota dealer - take a test drive and earn $450 in Gas or merchandise. We started sending in our receipts in November and sometimes paid a higher price for the particular brand of gas. We have never received any Gas Cards. I got the same email everyone else got about the computers being down and today I called and the number was discontinued and the website search ended up in an "error" reading. I can't believe this company got away with all this money from dealers and all the $5's. I glad it wasn't more for individuals. I have gotten free offers before from gas companies before and never had a problem but it was for only $100 and you received $25 quarterly in the form of a check.

However we bought a 2005 Chevy Truck for our daughter and she was very much looking forward to her 250.00 worth of free gas as she heads off to college. I have a couple questions in regard to Bill Kosloskey's post. He mentioned BBZ Resource, I think he was the only one to talk about that different company, instead of Freebee gas. Now I have done my fair share research and know that there is a difference between the two. I would like to know what "information" he has to verify that BBZ is in fact a different and legitimate operation. I am asking this because I am a certificate holder for the BBZ gas certificate. I actually did get my first 25 gift card, but my second has been delayed quite a bit. They do promise its on its way, but time will tell. My 3rd voucher they "never received." This worries me a great deal, so if Bill Kosloskey could give me a response to this I would appreciate it.

Here also in Cheyenne, WY. I also received a "free gas central" voucher w/code. From August thru December of '08 I followed the instructions & even scanned all my receipts. I also received and saved confirmations that "all was in order". However, "all is NOT in order" on my imaginary gas card.

I received a $300 FreeBee gas voucher in August '08 after test driving a car at a local dealership. I sent in my $5 refundable fee and began sending in $100 in Phillip 66 receipts monthly beginning September '08. I have followed the instructions perfectly and gone out of my way to find Phillip 66 stations on road trips. As of yet, I have not received any coupons and calling or sending emails to FreeBee Gas has been fruitless. Not only is this false advertising but they have stolen $5 from all who participated! Both no longer working. Did a search to discover that they no longer exist. I would have never expected this to be a fraud, since it came from a well known car dealer, in central PA.

I also purchased a vechicle and the salesman used the voucher to close me on the deal and it worked like a charm. The bad news is I never got my gas cards from this so called Gasolineredemption. I think these dealerships need to be held accountable for offering $250 DOLLARS IN FREE GAS that the Customer Never gets! This purchase should have never happened especially under false advertisement that this dealership took me for. To bad so many of us had to go through this experience. I know next time I will expect a check or cash only when offered such offers in order to close any deal!

After having read several of these comments I will stand to the defense of Incentive International (BBZ).

You see I was also taken last year by the "other" program based out of Florida like everyone else here.

I began my gas rebate program with Incentive International back in February and the customer service representative I spoke with let me know detail by deatil what in fact would take place. It has been almost 3 months (a little shy of 3 months) and today I did in fact receive my first Visa gift card as promised. Now had this company not came through with their end of the "deal" my trust for anything "FREE" would be absolutly out the door!

Then I tried online as indicated could be done with no luck and then called the 800 number which also was no longer in service. I am going to contact the vacation company the was doing the promoting.

i attented a semininar for the fre gas $250.00 and i sent in the reciepts from the gas station and i have not heard from them since this is nothing but a scam to get people to come out and attend these seminars and promise you things just to get you to come out and waste your time something has to done about this kind of scams

I'll add my name to the list of people who didn't get what they were promised. I dealt with the "claim your gas" and "claim your groceries" companies that were under BBZ Resource Management, and then Incentive International. It seems they are just playing a shell game with their company name and constantly changing it to stay one step ahead of law enforcement and angry consumers.

I live in the area where Incentive Intl is located (Mesa, AZ) so I drove over to their offices. Their doors were open, but there were no employees in sight. I had heard that they laid off everyone and are probably about to go out of business altogether.

The Sr VP is Troy Warren, as stated in the article. The president is Justin Elenburg, David Domm is the VP of marketing. I got all their business cards, but I don't know what good that will do, since it appears we will have no recourse against this company, and probably can't recover money from the individuals. But I'd like to see the higher-ups at this company tried for criminal fraud and serve REAL jail time and be denied the possibility of ever opening another LLC in their lifetimes.

I am another one of the dummies who got a so called gift certificate in Gresham, Oregon from a car dealer. What a scam these people have going! Who knows how many $5.00 from us that they have pocketed and also the dealers and stores who bought them to give to us...I also do wonder if the gas companies themselves had anything to do with this. At over $4.00 a gallon last year, that sounded great getting $200. in free gas for doing as required by them. I did, in July, August, Sept. and Oct. Nothing back, I emailed them , wrote them. Finally figuring they are big idiot crooks of the worst time, I just quit...I would love to see the state of Florida throw them in jail and leave them there for one year for each person they have scammed....all of them that were involved. We will never hear that, I suppose, but it sure would be wonderful if they land in prison and stay there for almost ever, that should include all of them that were involved..and the oil company exec's too, if they were in on this. I would not doubt it, but they may be innocent of this entirely. It makes you wonder though. Just think, instead of not driving so much last year, didn't you all go and buy your $100. a month in gas and send in the coupons thinking that was great, all that it was really costing you was $75.00. Well?

After reading all the comments posted by other consumers, my suspicions have been verified. This is a total scam. I too was offered a $300.00 "Free Gas" certificate in connection with purchasing awnings at a local awning company. I also followed all the necessary procedures to redeem the $25 monthly gas certificates and have received nothing in over a six month period. I intend to complain to the awning company and also Arizona's AGO.

No need to give a long story here ...Same as all the rest of you story is ..bought a car ,was given a 225.00 Free Gas Central certificate, paid my 5.00 through pay pal, sent in a total of 5 months of vouchers and receipts, got only one email back saying they got my first months claim, then nothing , got an email claiming a major computor problem,my sixth month vouchers came back undeliverable. Glad this is being looked into but I dont feel there will be any restitution for us because their seems to be no assets left with this business. Another lesson in life,luckily not a costly one!

I am in the same boat as those above. I received a letter from [EDITED BY ALL CONSUMING MODERATOR - NAME OF CAR MANUFACTURER] saying the first company (Tidewater) had gone out of business and that I should sign up with "" and I didi that for months and then they went out of business. Who's next? Will we ever get the promised $600.00 rebates. Todate I have not gotten a dime. I think [EDITED BY ALL CONSUMING MODERATOR - NAME OF CAR MANUFACTURER] should be liable to keep there word. Please advise me if anyone starts a class action suit. Thanks

I received a voucher for $100 in free gas for purchasing a vacuum from [EDITED BY BLOG MODERATOR - NAME OF CREDIT UNION] corporation. Apparently this is a scam? [EDITED BY BLOG MODERATOR - NAME OF CREDIT UNION] appears to be tied into the scamming business as well. They are not listed with the better business bureau and they use strong arm collection tactics. Harrassing phone calls and inappropriate business tactics. They should be investingated as well! This is fraud and is illegal.

Wow, i live in Puerto Rico and i receive a gas coupun for $200 when i buy a water distiller, i follow the steps exactly...A month later a girl called Nancy spoke to me in spanish and tell me that the system crash but they have all my information and my card arrive is a year after very sad!!

I received the "$300 in free gas" from a vacation service. As many others have, I paid the $5 (which is supposed to be repaid in Gas Credits on the last gas card) and have not received a single $25 gas card that was promised after faithfully following their process since July '08. the website is no longer available, the 800 number is disconnected. I've sent emails with no response. This is a fraudulent operation!

I filled out the information on the AG's website about Tidewater and now have been contacted by lawyers who are going after the furniture store that offered the vouchers with my purchase. They actually switched the voucher program to Mesa Arizona but they never responded to reciepts sent to them either. These companies must all be scams.

I bet you all...I paid $795.00 for a one year membership at the Kona Gym in Kona, HI and I too was taken by the $500 free gas. I did the receipt thing for 3 months and nothing! Found out that the company went bankrupt. Live and Learn!!!

kept receiving 10 min limitations to respond to a free $200 gas voucher and a $20 shopping card. Didn't fall for their story. When they realized I didn't respond to the toll free number by timeframe specified, the texts changed to remove any time restrictions. I was told it was a promotion because I shopped at Wal Mart. I called Walmart and was told it was a scam. I thought so as the text came to my cell phone but I had called the toll free number from my landline and they told me that my home number was chose to receive the promotion. Funny no calls came into my home phone, just my cell. No con pulled on me today. Very careful as I was told it only costed me $1 per card to obtain them. Wanted others to know this Tennesse Hillbilly wasn't as dumb that we are perceived to be. I still have my $2 and not out anything except the time to write this review.

Unsolicited text messages like this seem to be an attempt to promote a scam in circumvention of the Do Not Call registry (this mobile number is registered) but still impose a cost on the recipient and ought to be illegal. Seems to be a marketing ploy below alot of these major companies. Trying to get users to purchase cars based on that they will receive free fuel. Cant we get customers a more honest way?

I registered with,sent in my $5.00, and have followed all instructions. I have sent in my receipts since July. This is Dec.1 and I have not received one gift card. Also I have called several times, always getting voicemail, sent e-mails , and a separate written note in with November"s reciepts. I have yet to hear one word from them in any form.

I was sent a business proposal to Sale the vouchers for free gas cards same as the stories above but they charge me for the vouchers and I charge the costumer more than I paid for a profit .came from California name was Steve Thomas any body heard of this company..
