Why agency's use-of force policy departs from the AGO model policy:
1) The Federal Way Police Department (FWPD) is nationally accredited through the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA). FWPD is one of eight law enforcement agencies in Washington state that are nationally accredited.

2) FWPD is state accredited through the Washington Association of Sheriffs and Police Chiefs (WASPC).

3) Through accreditation standards, our policies meet or exceed state and national best practices in law enforcement.

FWPD adopted the statute (RCW 10.120.020) verbatim as our use of force policy.
