COVID Vaccination RequirementPer AGO Policy, employees and volunteers of the Washington State Attorney General’s Office (AGO) must be fully vaccinated no later than October 18, 2021, as a condition of employment. Being fully vaccinated means that an individual is at least two weeks past their final dose of an authorized COVID-19 vaccine regimen. If you are selected to serve within the AGO as an employee or volunteer, you will be required to provide proof of vaccination before you are able to begin work. You may request an accommodation if you are unable to meet the requirement due to a medical or religious necessity. Currently all staff, whose duties permit, are teleworking, though the AGO plans to re-open its offices for visitors and staff beginning November 29, 2021.

What is Exempt?
Exempt is the term used to identify positions exempt from state civil service law.  A position can be designated exempt either by statute or by the State Human Resources at the request of the Governor or other elected official.  
 
How is it different from general civil service?
Typically, only executive or senior level management positions are exempt, however, the law can exempt any position from the civil service rules.  
Exempt employees typically serve at the pleasure of the Appointing Authority and unless the incumbent has previously served in a classified position, have no return rights.
