AG McKenna concerned about Google Inc – Yahoo! Inc. alliance

SEATTLE - Washington Attorney General Rob McKenna today expressed concerns over the recently announced online advertising alliance between Google Inc. and Yahoo! Inc.

“Online advertising fuels the Internet’s vibrant and diverse content, and it is important that markets for online advertising remain competitive,” McKenna, said.  “In the event this relationship becomes permanent, my office will closely monitor its effects.”

The Washington Attorney General’s Antitrust Division has received several inquiries and concerns regarding the new “print on demand” or “POD” policy recently implemented by Amazon.com. Individuals who have contacted our office claim that Amazon is engaging in “monopolistic practices.”

Free shredding during Attorney General’s identity theft prevention tour stops in Bainbridge and Redmond

SEATTLE – While Washington has dropped from 7th to 13th in the nation per capita for identity theft cases reported to the Federal Trade Commission, many Washington residents still inadvertently put themselves at risk.

Attorney General Rob McKenna will visit Bainbridge Island on April 14 and Redmond on April 25 to promote identity theft prevention and assist the public in keeping sensitive documents out of the hands of crooks.  Peninsula All-Shred and Frontline will be on site to destroy sensitive documents for consumers and small businesses at no charge.

AG McKenna joins petition to require EPA to comply with court order regulating greenhouse gas emissions

OLYMPIA – Attorney General Rob McKenna announced today that Washington will ask the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit to order the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to respond to a landmark ruling that requires the agency to exercise its authority to protect the environment from greenhouse gas emissions from motor vehicles.

Attorney General’s Public Counsel will scrutinize Northwest Natural Gas request to raise customer rates

SEATTLE – Simon ffitch, chief of Public Counsel Section within the Washington State Attorney General’s Office, said the office is taking a hard look at Northwest Natural Gas’ new proposal to increase rates for its approximately 66,000 residential customers in Southwest Washington.
