Attorney General Nick Brown is warning consumers about a rising wave of text and email “phishing” or “imposter” scams targeting licensed drivers in Washington state. Scammers posing as local and state government agencies, such as the Washington State Department of Licensing and the Department of Transportation, are sending consumers fraudulent text and email messages that demand payment for unpaid traffic tickets or toll fees.
Attorney General Nick Brown filed a lawsuit today against Kalshi, a company that violates state law by operating and advertising an online platform where users can bet on sports, elections, and other events. Kalshi even allows consumers to bet on the total number of “measles cases this year,” “what will witnesses say” during a child trafficking hearing, or potential outcomes in the Iran war.

Coalition of states, counties, and cities across the country mount legal challenge in opposition to EPA’s unlawful rollback
Attorney General Nick Brown led a coalition of 12 other attorneys general today in calling on the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to rescind a Trump administration policy that significantly weakens federal environmental enforcement.
In a letter to EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin, the coalition warns that EPA’s December 2025 “Compliance First” memo discourages compliance, creates bureaucratic bottlenecks, and allows polluters to skirt accountability, while ignoring the effects of pollution on public health and the environment.
Attorney General Nick Brown and 15 other state attorneys general filed a motion on Tuesday asking a federal court to enforce its previous order requiring the U.S. Department of Education to halt the unlawful discontinuation of congressionally approved school mental health grants.
