SEATTLE - Attorney General Rob McKenna today announced a $5 million multi-state settlement with the manufacturer of a supposed “male enhancement” pill advertised in TV spots featuring a character named “Smiling Bob.”

Attorneys general in several states and the District of Columbia reached the agreement with Steve Warshak of Cincinnati, Ohio, and his dietary supplement firms Berkeley Premium Nutraceuticals, Lifekey Inc., Boland Naturals Inc., Warner Health Care, and Wagner Nutraceuticals.

SEATTLE – Attorney General Rob McKenna said that his office is monitoring gas prices in Washington for any indication of anticompetitive conduct among petroleum retailers or suppliers.

“The Attorney General’s Office has not found any evidence so far of illegal activity among gasoline retailers or producers in Washington,” McKenna said. “If we do, we will take vigorous enforcement action.”

McKenna encouraged drivers to conserve gasoline and find alternatives to driving alone.

SEATTLE – A Vashon-based company named PeoplePeople that sells cheese, candles and posters online is being sued by the state for failure to deliver.

“PeoplePeople hasn’t been very people-friendly,” Attorney General Rob McKenna said. “The company has received numerous complaints for failure to deliver merchandise, issue refunds or respond to consumer inquiries.”

PayPal to clearly disclose customer rights and obligations

SEATTLE – Attorney General Rob McKenna today announced that Washington and 27 other states reached an agreement with PayPal, Inc. resolving concerns about the company’s business practices.

“Today’s settlement ensures that PayPal spells out important terms and conditions before a consumer becomes a PayPal member and each time a customer initiates a transaction,” McKenna said.
