Washington State

Office of the Attorney General

Attorney General

Bob Ferguson

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

On July 22 and 29, 2015, the Attorney General’s Office received letters from members of the State House of Representatives and the State Senate, respectively, requesting that the AGO conduct an investigation of Planned Parenthood.

Today, Attorney General Ferguson sent responses available here and here, enclosing the memorandum available here.

In sum, the Attorney General’s Office did not find any evidence whatsoever to support the allegations that Planned Parenthood is operating in violation of state or federal law.

In his response, Attorney General Ferguson wrote:

“Unfounded allegations against Planned Parenthood are troubling. They seek to discredit the organization and divert resources away from patient services, making it more difficult for Washington women to exercise their constitutional rights.

We conducted a review and found no evidence of any violations and no basis for further review.”
