Washington State Association for Justice allegedly failed to properly file three reports in 2012

OLYMPIA — The Washington State Association for Justice (WSAJ) will pay the state $9,240 to resolve an Attorney General’s Office lawsuit over the organization’s failure to timely and properly file lobbyist employer reports.

EVERETT — The Attorney General’s Sexually Violent Predator Unit will oppose the conditional release of a convicted sex offender in a civil trial this week in Everett.

Louis W. Brock, 64, was found by a Snohomish County jury to be a Sexually Violent Predator (SVP) in November 1991, and he was civilly committed to the state’s Special Commitment Center, now located on McNeil Island. 

Court also orders respondents to cover AG’s attorneys’ fees and costs

OLYMPIA — A Thurston County judge today granted Attorney General Bob Ferguson’s request to enforce a subpoena issued in the investigation of for-profit signature gathering firm Citizen Solutions, in connection with the AG’s investigation of the firm, as well as Tim Eyman, his political committees and his for-profit company.

Eyman, related parties had refused to turn over evidence in campaign-finance case

OLYMPIA — A Snohomish County judge today granted Attorney General Bob Ferguson’s request to enforce subpoenas issued in the investigation of Tim Eyman, his political committees and his for-profit company.

Snohomish County Superior Court Judge Ellen Fair ordered the respondents to disclose the documents by July 13.

Pharmacies objected to dispensing emergency contraceptives

SEATTLE — The United States Supreme Court today declined to review a case challenging Washington state rules adopted to ensure that patients have timely access to medication, including emergency contraceptives. Attorney General Bob Ferguson had asked the court to decline review in a brief filed with the high court.

More than 22,000 Washingtonians will also receive hundreds of millions in restitution

SEATTLE — Attorney General Bob Ferguson today announced a more than $26 million agreement with Volkswagen over its deceptive marketing of its “clean diesel” vehicles, plus restitution for consumers and billions in investments in clean technology development and environmental mitigation.  

The $26.1 million recovery is believed to represent the third-largest Consumer Protection recovery in Washington’s history.

Washington AG led states’ support of reform effort

OLYMPIA — The U.S. Supreme Court by a 4-4 vote today blocked President Barack Obama’s 2014 executive actions to reform our country’s immigration system.

In Washington alone, the President’s actions would have allowed 105,000 people to move into the legal workforce, increasing the state’s tax revenues by an estimated $57 million over the next five years.

Attorney General’s Office had been fighting since 2014 to prevent release
