Other LanguagesOLYMPIA – Attorney General Rob McKenna will join other community leaders and members of the Kent Police and Fire departments at the Pediatric Interim Care Center in Kent for their “Babies on the Move” ceremony Saturday.
The event marks the opening of the center’s new location roughly one block from their existing location.
McKenna and others will each receive one of the 15 babies from the center to personally transport down the street to the new location. Two streets have been blocked off for the ceremony and the streets will be lined with supporters, friends and volunteers all carrying balloons to celebrate the opening of the center’s new facility.
As part of his “Operation: Allied Against Meth” initiative, McKenna has visited the PICC several times to learn more about the devastating effect of meth addiction on children.

Pediatric Interim Care Center, The Newborn Nursery, (PICC) is a one-of-a-kind, model program that provides specialized, 24-hour care for drug-exposed and medically fragile newborns. PICC brings babies safely through withdrawal from drugs, including heroin, cocaine, methamphetamines, methadone and prescription drugs. The pioneering program also facilitates visitation for families, provides caregiver training, follows the babies after they leave and offers a range of community outreach and education services.
