Attorney General Bob Ferguson today announced his appointments to the newly created Artificial Intelligence (AI) Task Force in the Attorney General’s Office. The task force will convene technology experts, industry representatives, labor organizations, civil liberty groups and other stakeholders to discuss AI benefits and challenges. The Task Force will issue findings, guiding principles, and submit reports with policy recommendations.
OLYMPIA — The Washington State Supreme Court ruled today that Attorney General Bob Ferguson has broad authority to pursue legal action to protect the civil and constitutional rights of Washingtonians.
SEATTLE —  Attorney General Bob Ferguson announced today that the state, city and county governments in Washington state received a $123.34 million lump sum payment from opioid manufacturer Johnson & Johnson. The funds are the latest payments from Ferguson’s litigation against companies that fueled the opioid crisis, and must be split evenly between state and local governments. Ferguson directed the funds must be used to combat the opioid epidemic.

Attorney General Bob Ferguson announced today that Pasco-based Greenridge Farms and Baker Produce will pay $470,000 to resolve his civil rights lawsuit over multiple allegations of sexual assault and sexual harassment of female farmworkers by one of the companies’ supervisors.  Ferguson also asserts the companies retaliated against them when they spoke out.

PORT ORCHARD — The first prosecution by Attorney General Bob Ferguson’s new Organized Retail Crime Unit ended in a conviction today, when a Bremerton man pleaded guilty to stealing and then selling tens of thousands of dollars’ worth of merchandise. 
WENATCHEE — A jury found a veterans nonprofit and its founder and CEO, Thelbert “Thad” Lawson Jr., liable for pervasive and ongoing sexual harassment of 12 women. The jury ordered the defendants to pay nearly $1.5 million to the victims of the harassment as a result of Attorney General Bob Ferguson’s civil rights lawsuit.
