2025 Data Privacy Survey

The data economy relies on the mass collection and retention of our personal information by businesses. Smart devices within our homes, from air fryers to televisions, constantly monitor and collect information about our preferences, routines, and community. The social media apps on our phones track every video we view, every friend we make, and every photo we upload. Our web browsers monitor the websites we visit, the products we purchase, and the places we travel to. While this technology can make life more convenient and efficient, businesses can also use this information to exploit consumers.

To understand the concerns and challenges facing Washingtonians, the Attorney General’s Office has launched a Data Privacy Survey available to all residents of our state.

This survey is your opportunity to tell us what is and isn’t working with your online experiences, your feelings about and knowledge of data privacy, and what you would like to see from the Attorney General’s Office and policymakers in the future. We will use the information you provide to guide our office's work on developing tools and resources to help educate and support consumers on issues pertaining to data privacy.
